Minister Dillon announces €250,000 fund for Cleaner Communities

Posted by Ciaran Sheehan on 10th Jul 2026

Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment including Circular Economy, Alan Dillon, has announced plans to increase on-the-spot fines for littering and dog fouling from €150 to €250.

Dog Fouling cost local authorities a substantial amount of time and money to clean up after irresponsible dog owners. It is hoped that the increased fines for littering and dog fouling will act as a stronger deterrent.

A new fund of €250,000 announced in July 2026, financed through the Circular Economy Fund, will support local authorities in purchasing additional dog waste bins, bag dispensers and related infrastructure in parks, beaches, greenways and other locations regularly used by dog owners.

MuttMitts Ireland, based in Limerick City, supplies bins, dispensers and bags. We even have a favourite 'circular' bag in the form of a 65% PCR Recycled Purple Poop Bag.

In the case that your Local Authority is looking for a quote for dog waste bins, bag dispensers and related infrastructure, MuttMitts Ireland would very much welcome the opportunity to quote.

If you obtain quotes via the phone, please call Ciaran on 087-2244039. If you require a written quote, please contact MuttMitts Ireland's email address ciaran@muttmitts.ie . If you use SupplyGov.ie please advise what Lot/Categories your Local Authority use to procure these items.
