Our bag is 65% post consumer resin. Not "partially made with recycled factory scraps", like some competitor's bag claims. Ours have a genuine environmental benefit.
Post-Consumer Resin (PCR) vs. Compostable Material: Making a dog waste bag with PCR material is more environmentally friendly than making a dog waste bag from compostable material—which requires new natural resources like agricultural products (corn) which may be better used as feed. Compostable bags are designed for food and yard scraps not for animal waste. Once dog waste is put in a compostable bag it cannot be combined with home or commercial composting as dog waste contains pathogens not killed by the lower heat levels of natural composting. Composting of dog waste is not recommended for homeowners. For those reasons a 'compostable' bag for dog waste is a deceptive claim. It isn't compostable once dog waste is put into it and hence it has no environmental benefit. It may actually be using up resources, like corn, that could be put to better social and economic use.
